Trichotillomania (hair pulling)
is more common than we think. It is the term used to describe the often
impulsive habit of repeatedly pulling out hair from our bodies. It is often
done with very minimal awareness and can be very difficult to stop. It can
cause great distress as people become concerned about their appearance as their
hair takes time to grow back and they feel as they cannot control the habit. People
with this habit have often experienced anxiety and tend to do more hair pulling
when they feel stressed. People delay seeking help as they may feel embarrassed
about their habit and think that no one else suffers from it. This is untrue
and Michael has experience and success in helping people overcome
their hair pulling behaviour.
