People with Bulimia experience recurrent episodes of binge eating followed by self-induced vomiting. When bingeing, the person will eat much more food than usual and feel that their eating is out of control. They are often anxious in-between episodes of bingeing, worried that they will lose control again soon. They will tend to be preoccupied with controlling their weight gain and their physical appearance, and may often feel very unconfident. They can feel very low when they think they have failed, have lost control or would appear out of control to others. Bulimia can lead to physical and digestive problems.

People with Anorexia believe they are very significantly overweight when they may in fact be underweight. People will go to great lengths to lose weight and often feel intense emotional distress around weight gain and the way they look. Even when they loose weight they may not be pleased. They may not eat any food for long periods of time and may experience recurrent physical problems as a result.

Psychological therapy can help people overcome their eating difficulties and help to boost self confidence and self esteem.
