People
with Chronic fatigue or ME feel utterly fatigued and lacking energy. Despite
this, they may have difficulty sleeping, can have problems with concentration
and generally feel physically and mentally drained. They may feel anxious, low
and frustrated. They may look well, which can be frustrating to them and those around
them and they may feel completely misunderstood. People who suffer with these conditions have
usually been stretching themselves to meet life’s demands; they may have a
tendency to set high expectations for themselves. They may have been feeling stressed
and using up a lot of energy and suddenly come down with a bad cold or flu. It
is best to view this condition not simply as a physical problem but as an
emotional and psychological one also. There is a very close relationship with
the brain and the immune system. A way a person thinks and behaves has been
scientifically proven to influence the effects of fatigue. Psychological
therapy can help people with fatigue to gradually re-energise and to become
active again. It can help address the ways of being, reduce fatigue and
regain a sense of control over one's life.
